Cleveland SC NPSL Great Lakes Conference

The new NPSL season is fast approaching, and Cleveland SC is preparing for another Great Lakes Conference battle. With a mix of new challengers and familiar rivals, this year’s race for the conference title is shaping up to be intense.

This season, the conference welcomes both new and returning clubs, adding even more competition.

Ambassadors FC Ohio, based in Canton, Ohio, makes the jump to the NPSL after previously facing Cleveland SC in a pair of friendly matches in 2021 and 2023. They have competed in the Northern Ohio Soccer League (NOSL) in recent seasons, and their addition strengthens the Ohio soccer landscape while introducing another exciting in-state rivalry.

The Buffalo Stallions bring a rich soccer history to the conference. The original Stallions were a major presence in Buffalo’s soccer scene during their time in the Major Indoor Soccer League (1979–1984). Now, they’re bringing that legacy back to life as they step into the NPSL.

Rochester NY FC enters the NPSL with experience from MLS Next Pro, adding a strong competitive presence. Their background at the professional development level makes them a team to watch this season.

Syracuse FC returns to the conference after a few years away. They previously played in the North Atlantic Conference while also competing against Cleveland SC in the Rust Belt Conference from 2018 to 2021. Having them back brings another familiar opponent into the mix.

A Rivalry That Never Disappoints

Beyond the new additions, Erie Commodores FC remains Cleveland SC’s longest-standing rival. Since Cleveland SC joined the NPSL in 2018, matches against Erie have always been fiercely contested, bringing high energy and intensity. With both teams eager to make their mark each season, this matchup is always one to watch.

Additionally, Niagara 1812 will look to build on last season, while Flower City Union returns after facing Cleveland SC only once last year—in the final match of the season.

With eight teams set to compete for the Great Lakes Conference title, this season is shaping up to be one of the best yet. Stay tuned for schedule updates, match previews, and team news as Cleveland SC gears up for another thrilling campaign.
